In Remembrance of Robert Ahrens – The Voice of NFCR
We are saddened to pass along the news that long-time NFCR employee, Robert Ahrens, passed away on January 28, 2023, at 74. Robert joined NFCR in 2001 and served as the Front Desk Receptionist and a Donor Relations Associate. He was known as the “voice” and “face” of NFCR for more than 22 years before his retirement last year.
Robert served in the U.S. Marine Corps and completed two tours in Vietnam. He was also a Franchise Owner of a local Radio Shack in Frederick, MD. Robert is survived by his wife, two brothers, three sisters, stepmother, granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was very detailed-oriented and always remembered staff members’ birthdays and specific information about their families. He kept the NFCR offices running efficiently and smoothly, with a friendly demeanor and familiarity with our donor, making Robert feel like a long-time family member.
He will be missed by all his co-workers, friends, and the many donors who had the privilege of interacting with Robert annually or more frequently.
Robert’s family asked for any donations to be made in Robert’s memory to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
