Meet our Play4TheCure Summer Interns!
Chloe Riven
My name is Chloe Riven, from Waitsfield, Vermont. I am an undergraduate student at Fairfield University, with a Health Communications Major, Health Studies Minor and am enrolled in the Peace Corps Preparatory Program. I am currently working as the Nutrition and Wellness intern for my school’s dining services, and volunteer at the Yale-New Haven Hospital specifically in delirium prevention.
I was interested in being an intern for the National Foundation for Cancer Research & Play4TheCure because I have a passion for helping others in any form possible, love being athletic (recently ran in the Vermont City Marathon), and have prior fundraising experience. My first major fundraiser was for the New York City Half Marathon. Through the combination of outreach to my school and community, I raised $1,000+ for the American Cancer Society in under a week.
Being able to apply my skills to this internship has allowed me to expand my learning here at the NFCR. I deeply value the mission of this non-profit foundation – “committed to research for a cure.”
Ethan Li
My name is Ethan Li and I am from McLean, Virginia; I am currently 17 years old and a rising senior at McLean High School. I have always had a passion for learning new things and I am an officer for my school’s Science Olympiad club as well as a long-standing member of Boy Scout Troop 1130. In my free time, I enjoy staying active through tennis and hiking. My most memorable experience is a trip to the Medicine Bow Mountains in Colorado.
As an intern for the National Foundation for Cancer Research and the Play4TheCure program, I want to use my prior experiences of being a leader and working with my community in a real-world setting. I enjoy helping others through service and I look forward to using the skills that I have gained through travel and Scouting to make a positive impact. I know that this opportunity will allow me to enrich my learning, and I hope to embody NFCR’s mission against cancer.
