NFCR Mourns the Loss of Advisor Sarah Funt
Everyone at the National Foundation for Cancer Research is saddened by the loss of Sarah Funt, a longtime supporter and a founding member of NFCR’s Council of Advisors.
Sarah was one of the founding members of Daffodils & Diamonds, a group of passionate and influential women in the Washington D.C. area that have organized an annual luncheon to raise funds for cancer research since 1981. Sarah and the D&D Committee members have supported NFCR’s cancer research for almost two decades, making possible breakthroughs that could save patients’ lives.
Sarah was an avid golfer who mobilized community support for NFCR by organizing local golf tournaments for almost a decade to raise funds for NFCR’s game-changing cancer research.
“Sarah was a force for good, full of life, always optimistic, and so ready to lend her help to anybody and any projects. She was a strong champion for international collaboration to fight cancer. We all at NFCR will miss her dearly.” Said Dr. Sujuan Ba, CEO of NFCR and a close friend of Sarah Funt.
Dr. Ba and other friends of Sarah Funt have donated the seed fund to set up the Memorial Fund for Sarah Funt for Collaborative Cancer Research to keep her legacy alive.
