NFCR Named a 2023 Moxie Award Finalist for Boldness in Business
The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is pleased to be a finalist in the 2023 Moxie Award. NFCR is featured as a contender in the category of Nonprofits with less than 20 employees.
This year marks the second year in a row that NFCR has been a finalist for this honor.
“I want to congratulate our team for their steadfast work that has led us to gain this recognition as one of the boldest and most innovative organizations in the D.C. metro community,” Brian Wachtel, Executive Director, said.
According to the Moxie website, “Organizations are recognized for having demonstrated boldness and innovation as an integral part of their growth strategy.”
In 2023, NFCR is celebrating a milestone achievement: 50 years of funding breakthroughs in cancer research. Reaching this milestone and seeing the impact of our past successes fuels our dedication to continue fighting for the next 50 breakthroughs.
A few of our innovative programs that show promise of significantly impacting the future of cancer research include:
GBM AGILE – the innovative, paradigm-shifting clinical trial is accelerating how we review and approve life-saving cancer treatments for the most difficult-to-treat cancers, such as glioblastoma. Recently, GBM AGILE gained public recognition as many founding partners were on-site to ring the closing bell at NASDAQ.
Our AIM-HI Translational Research partnership, which supports the Women’s Venture Competition that helps entrepreneurs grow their research, has expanded and now also supports the Beacon Award for Women Leaders in Oncology. This award recognizes extraordinary women and celebrates their health and life sciences achievements. The inaugural recipient was Dr. Anna Barker; read more about her contributions.
Sixteen of our supported researchers had work featured at the 2023 Annual AACR Meeting, confirming their positions as thought leaders in our industry who are making an impact.
We invite you to join NFCR as we continue to fight for breakthroughs in cancer research that we believe will ultimately lead to cures for all types of cancer. This is our mission that we remain committed to. Join us by making a gift or exploring other ways you can get involved.
“This year’s finalists truly represent the spirit of Moxie, and we are excited to help tell the stories of how they have conducted their businesses in new and exciting ways,” Katie Jordan, the 2023 Moxie Award chair, said. “We look forward to revealing the winners at the 2023 Moxie Award celebration on October 25, 2023, at The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner,” share Jordan.
